OK, I’m putting out a little bleg to my fives of loyal readers.
I’ll be visiting New York City this weekend, and will have time both Friday and Saturday nights to go out and sample the best in Manhattan trendy avant garde watering holes.
I will of course be hitting the Pegu Club, natch, but I’d like at least one more destination. Can anybody help me out with some ideas for the fun and unusual?

Doug, of the bars I visited when in New York earlier this year, in addition to the wonderful Pegu Club, I’d really recommend Death & Co. and The Clover Club. The later requires leaving Manhattan for Brooklyn, but it isn’t too far and definitely worth it in my opinion. If you want fun and unusual the phone booth entrance of PDT is also great, and just a few streets up from Death & Co.

Check out Milk & Honey, Employees Only and Death & Co.
Then come to Cleveland’s Velvet Tango Room.

Thanks Paulius and Jay. Looks like Death & Co. goes to the top of the list!

Oh, and Paulius, I added a link to the Velvet Tango Room to your comment. I ‘ll be sure to check it out soon. I’m in Cleveland next weekend, so maybe then.

I realize I am about 6 months late for this post, but if you are ever in Manhattan again, let me know. As a member of the NYPD, I will be more than happy to show you around. Perhaps visit some bars not appearing on any tourist map?
