The Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, has been arguing for some time that one of the most serious environmental issues facing the world today, invasive species, has a solution that we have not been not been embracing sufficiently: Eat Them. Seriously, when a plant or animal threatens to overtake a foreign biome, all we really need to do is develop a taste for it, and the problem will be solved in short order.

In what he apparently thought was an unrelated post, the Professor this afternoon noted that the origin of the unique yeast that yields lager beer has been discovered.
But this “European” yeast is actually from Patagonia and brought there by traders. It too is an invasive species.

Clearly, we must do all we can to stamp out this invader in the best possible way, and set an example for other similar problems!

We’re invasive! Drink us before we ferment some more.
