The Tahitienne is a lovely little coconut cocktail. While it definitely for coconut lovers, it is less of a coconut bomb than you might expect from the recipe. It is also at the sweeter end of the spectrum for the sort of Tiki drinks I like, so fair warning. It is not low-carb friendly.
- 1 1/2 oz. light rum
- 1 oz. coconut cream
- 2 oz. coconut water
- 1/4 oz. orange curaçao
Combine ingredients in a shaker with plentiful ice. Shake hard and long to fully emulsify the coconut cream and get plenty of dilution. Strain into a smallish cocktail coupe.
Making this drink is a good opportunity to employ the method for measuring coconut cream that I posted about earlier this #TikiMonth. I pour an ounce of water, then a half ounce of cream, pour it into the tin, and then repeat. Doing it this way I still have a usable OXO after making the drink.
As a final note, I found the Tahitienne in Tiki Drinks: Tropical Cocktails for the Modern Bar, which I reviewed here.
